It’s been an exciting season of big milestones at Cook Children’s. On March 21, 2023, we’ll celebrate turning 105 years old. While we’re proud of our rich history, we just keep getting better with age through innovation, imagination and growth -- all of which allows us to continue to improve the well-being of all children in the communities we serve.
Speaking of innovation …Cook Children’s made history in January when physicians separated conjoined twin girls for the first time. The surgery was incredibly complex and took months to plan. News of the separation spread far and wide as major media programs, such as “Good Morning America,” “Sunday TODAY with Willie Geist” and “NBC Nightly News,” covered the story. More than 100 clinical professionals have been involved in the girls’ care since they arrived at our neonatal intensive care unit last fall. Today, JamieLynn and AmieLynn Finley have a brighter future thanks in part to innovation, imagination, safety, generosity and teamwork.
In another history-making moment, earlier this year we opened the doors to our new medical center in Prosper. In this issue, you’ll meet a member of our leadership team from there. Sheralyn Hartline started as a nurse in Fort Worth more than two decades ago and now she’s serving as assistant vice president of Nursing and Patient Care at the Cook Children’s Medical Center in Prosper. Hers is just one of many stories of longtime employees now shepherding the Cook Children’s culture at our Prosper campus.
But our newest blue peaks in Prosper aren’t the only ones taking shape in the Texas skyline. At our medical center in Fort Worth, we’re nearing completion of the expansion of our Dodson Specialty Clinics building. This new space will allow us to connect patients to care in more ways than ever before.
With all of these additions comes a fresh new look, too. You might have noticed some updates to this magazine, including our refreshed, brighter logo. The dots that connect the peaks remind us of the life-changing connections we’re making every day, not just at our medical center in Fort Worth but within all of our facilities throughout Texas.
All of this is possible because of your support. Your generosity helps us elevate the patient experience, and create treasured relationships with the families who entrust us with the care of their children. Thank you for helping to make their worlds a little brighter.
With gratitude,
