Promise Classic
Golfers at Cook Children’s Promise Classic took a big swing for our pediatric cancer patients, gathering for a day of golf, giving and hope!
Thanks to 37 generous sponsors and 128 golfers, we wrapped up Childhood Cancer Awareness Month with a hole-in-one! In total, these generous partners raised $137,010.
New this year, the Champion Zone featured a live DJ, photo opportunities and a chance to meet several Cook Children’s patients. Golfers learned more about the kids directly benefiting from their generosity.
We’re so grateful for their commitment to more innovative treatments and compassionate programs that truly make a difference for pediatric cancer families in our care.

By using our coupon at participating Spirit Halloween locations, you save 10% on your costume purchase and Spirit of Children will donate 10% of your total to support Child Life programs at Cook Children’s.
Child Life is the lifeblood of Cook Children’s. Facility dogs administer cuddles and comfort to patients on hard days. Music therapy allows patients to express themselves in new ways. Educational programs help patients understand what’s happening at every step of their medical journey.
Spirit of Children is dedicated to providing these programs for every patient, ensuring that hospital visits are less scary year-round.
Meet our new patient ambassadors!
Every family at Cook Children’s has a story to tell. Stories of setbacks and loss. Stories of triumph and bravery.
Every year, a courageous group of kids are nominated and accepted into the Patient Ambassador program to represent Cook Children’s in the community. They spend a year attending events, thanking supporters and telling their unique Cook Children’s story far and wide.
“Who better to tell the story of Cook Children’s than the patients of Cook Children’s?” says Director of Family Support Services, Katie Campbell. “We’re so grateful for them and the time they’ll take out in the community this year to tell the story of Cook Children’s. They’re heroes!”

Bishop's story
Bishop was 13 years old when he was struck by a vehicle in a crosswalk. His right foot was severely injured.
At Cook Children’s, Bishop immediately underwent surgery to repair his foot with a donor skin graft. He needed four additional surgeries over the next six weeks. Bishop used a wheelchair while his foot healed, transitioning to a knee scooter and then crutches.
It was difficult for the young athlete to be sidelined, but his Cook Children’s team was there at every step. His physical and occupational therapy teams taught him to move as independently as possible, and his counselor helped him work through his feelings about the trauma he experienced.
A few days into his hospital stay, they celebrated Bishop’s fourteenth birthday, complete with balloons and cake. They made him feel special, in the midst of a tough time.
“When you're going through something like that, as a parent, it's very hard. And to have an incredible, professional staff like we had at Cook Children's was a life-changing moment for us,” says Bishop’s dad, Kier.
Today, Bishop is back to doing the things he loves thanks to your generosity.
