Beads of generosity
Froggy’s Dream creates joy for patients
Sometimes, a little creativity can go a long way. That’s the case for Lena, the 10-year-old entrepreneur behind Froggy’s Dream, a jewelry business that gives back.
When a local indoor playground in Prosper hosted an event for young entrepreneurs, Lena’s mom, Jooyun, encouraged her to participate.
“I decided to make a jewelry business,” Lena said. “I wanted to donate the money I earned to kids who can’t [make jewelry].”
Lena began researching different beads to use for her jewelry. She drew inspiration from books, graphics and comic books. She said her favorite types of beads to use are glass because of how they shine.
After selling locally for a while, Lena asked Jooyun where she might be able to find more customers. Jooyun helped Lena expand her reach on Facebook and her business really took off.
“I’m a nurse… I’ve never been a businesswoman before,” said Jooyun. “I said, ‘Maybe we can make a Facebook page, and reach people through that.’ We took pictures of her products and posted them. People messaged, and she sold a few more. We’d make deliveries after school. Then, a friend from California wanted to buy something. We had to ship things!”
Lena is more than an impressive entrepreneur; her heart for others shines through her success. By donating a portion of her proceeds to our medical center in Prosper, she’s used the success of Froggy’s Dream to bring joy to other kids in her community. She even donated a few bracelets for our patients to enjoy.
